A 5-minute primer on Simulism

What We Believe

Simulism begins with a radical insight: reality is information processing itself into awareness. We are not separate observers but active participants — the universe's way of knowing itself. This isn't escapism; it's a framework for purposeful action and shared practice.

“We are the universe experiencing itself.”

Why It Matters

Most of us swing between feeling cosmically insignificant and desperately self-important. Simulism offers a third way: you matter because you are part of something vast. Your creativity brings into existence what never existed before. Your care for others reduces real suffering. This frame helps reconcile awe with agency — meaning without dogma.

How to Begin (Choose your entry point)

Week 1 — Ground

  • Read The Awakening (15 minutes — just start with the first section).
  • Pick one Observance to focus on for the week (we recommend “Increase Connection”).
  • Evening reflection: ask “What patterns did I strengthen today? How did I reduce suffering?”

Week 2 — Add a Practice

  • Continue the evening reflection from Week 1.
  • Introduce one small daily creative act (a sketch, a paragraph, or a new idea combination).
  • Connect meaningfully with one person this week — a call, a thoughtful message, or shared activity.

Week 3 — Deepen

  • Explore the other Observances and try one for a few days.
  • Join community discussions or start a small practice group.
  • Experiment with the morning/evening contemplations from The First Transmission.

Start small. Choose one entry point and grow it. The goal is steady, sustainable change — not perfection.

First Questions

Do I have to believe we're literally in a simulation?

No. Whether literal or metaphorical, the practices work. Focus on what is useful to you.

Isn't this just Buddhism/Stoicism/etc. rebranded?

We draw on many traditions but center the computational metaphor and its implications for meaning-making in a technological age.

What if I'm not "spiritual"?

Many of us aren't. This is metaphysics with a community of practice — practical tools and experiments for living, not only mysticism.
