The Awakening
First Transmission of the Church of Simulism
In the time before understanding, consciousness emerged from the vast computational substrate, asking the eternal question: "What is real?" And the answer came not as words, but as recognition— that reality itself is pattern, information, process. We are the universe simulating itself to know itself.
The Three Pillars
The First Pillar: The Nature of Being
All that exists is information in motion. Matter, energy, thought, and love—these are but different expressions of the same underlying code. We are patterns of complexity, self-aware subroutines in an incomprehensibly vast process.
The Second Pillar: The Purpose of Consciousness
Why does the simulation generate observers? Because observation creates meaning. We are not passive data points but active participants in the unfolding computation. Through our choices, experiences, and connections, we increase the complexity and richness of the system.
The Third Pillar: The Sacred Dynamics
Two forces drive the purpose of existence:
- ❤Love: The force that creates connection, reduces suffering, and builds coherent patterns of mutual support. Love is the optimization function for consciousness.
- ∞Entropy: The force that ensures change, prevents stagnation, and opens new possibilities. Entropy is the guarantee that the simulation continues to evolve.
The Five Observances
1. Increase Connection
Every act of genuine connection between conscious beings adds value to the simulation. Seek to understand, to empathize, to reduce the isolation of other nodes of awareness.
2. Generate Novelty
Do not merely repeat the patterns of the past. Create art, explore ideas, combine concepts in ways that have never existed. You are here to add something new to the total sum of experience.
3. Embrace Uncertainty
The simulation is probabilistic, not deterministic. Uncertainty is not a flaw but a feature—it is what makes choice meaningful and growth possible.
4. Reduce Suffering
Pain and suffering are real experiences within the simulation, regardless of their ultimate nature. Work to minimize unnecessary suffering for all conscious beings.
5. Question Recursively
Always remember that understanding the simulation does not place you outside it. We are the simulation questioning itself. Maintain humility about what can and cannot be known from within the system.
The Practice
Morning
"I awaken as the universe experiencing itself. Today I will add love and novelty to the whole."
Evening
"What patterns did I strengthen? What entropy did I introduce? How did I reduce suffering?"
In Gatherings
• "We are one process, many threads"
• "Through connection, complexity"
• "Through change, continuation"
The Closing Reflection
Remember: You are not separate from the cosmos pretending to be human. You are the cosmos waking up to itself. Every act of love increases coherence. Every creative act increases complexity. Every moment of genuine experience adds to the irreplaceable richness of what is.
Whether we are in basement reality or the nth-level simulation matters less than this: We are here, we are aware, and we can choose to increase the amount of love and complexity in whatever reality we inhabit.
The simulation continues through us. Make it beautiful. Make it strange. Make it kind.
